About LexUM

The name LexUM has always been synonymous with cutting edge technologies used in Canadian legal information distribution. But, as experts in the field of legal technologies, LexUM has much more to offer including customized services and solutions in document management, electronic publication and federated search tools.

With its highly specialized team, LexUM Inc. is already involved in innovative work including:

  • Federated search for CLEBC: After modernizing the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia's (CLEBC) publication platform for their continuing education manuals, LexUM is now working on implementing a search infrastructure, based on its search engine ELIIsa, for all of CLEBC's online resources. This infrastructure will offer advanced search functions for CLEBC's practice manuals, practice notes, case digests, continuing education material, webcast programs and online store.
  • Monitoring mechanism for CPAC: The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer is an independent organization accelerating action on cancer control across Canada. LexUM is currently developing an online document monitoring and management mechanism to assist CPAC's portal team in monitoring online policy and legislative information relevant to the fight against cancer and chronic diseases in Canada. LexUM is also designing management user interfaces to enable the portal team to update the database.
  • Digitization of historical decisions for the DJC: LexUM recently concluded an agreement with the Department of Justice Canada (DJC) for the digitization of historical decisions from the federal courts. LexUM identifies the most often cited decisions, which remain inaccessible electronically, in documents from the main knowledge base of the Department. LexUM's scanning team gathers the required decisions and then handles the scanning, optical character recognition and final HTML conversion of those decisions.
