NOTE re advisory bodies: In the Population Affiliation Report (see description at the end of the list) there are many bodies which contain the terms Advisory Board, Advisory Council, Advisory Committee, Consultation Committee, or Consultative Committee in their name. Since it is unlikely that these bodies would be directly involved in a court action, they have not been included in the Canada List. In the event that one of them is named as the first party in a court judgment, the correct format is, for example: Canada (… Advisory Committee …).

· FAA Sch-I.1 Departmental division or branch. The Financial Administration Act, Schedule I.1 contains the “division or branch of the federal public administration”. All of these require “Canada” as the first element of their name.
· FAA Sch-II Departmental corporation: The Financial Administration Act, Schedule II contains “departmental corporations”. These are designated by their legislation as “incorporated”, “corporation” or “body corporate”. These bodies are organizations which do not require “Canada” in front of their name.
· FAA Sch-III-I Parent Crown Corporation, and FAA Sch-III-II Commercial Crown Corporation. The Financial Administration Act Schedule III, Part I and Part II) contain “crown corporations”. These come under the Organization rule with no “Canada” in front of their name.
· FAA Sch-IV Core Departmental Agency: the Financial Administration Act, Schedule IV contains “Portions of the Core Public Administration”. Some of the bodies in this list are incorporated entities (Organization rule). Others are unincorporated and require “Canada” before their name.
· FAA Sch-V Separate departmental agency. The Financial Administration Act, Schedule V contains “Separate Agencies”. Some are incorporated while others are not.
· GOC departmental agency: An entity found in the Government of Canada website under “Departments and Agencies”.
· PAR Other Core Org: An entity categorized in the Population Affiliation Report (PAR) as “Core Public Administration -- Other Portions of the core public administration”.
· PAR Other Fed Org: An entity categorized in the Population Affiliation Report (PAR) as “Federal Public Administration -- Other federal organization”.
· PAR Separate Agency: An entity categorized in the Population Affiliation Report (PAR) as “Public Service – Separate Agencies”.
· PAR Crown Corporation: An entity categorized in the Population Affiliation Report (PAR) as “Federal Public Administration – Crown Corporations”
